Will Pulisic (GK): Pulisic joins the Blue Devils after a year in Germany training with Borussia Dortmund. The former U.S youth national team player is the front-runner to be Duke’s starting goalie in the fall. Pulisic’s skill set immediately makes Duke a more competitive team. Head Coach John Kerr is clearly excited about Pulisic coming in the fall as he stated the following quote in an article regarding the impressive commit: “He has the full package. He is a great shot-stopper, reads and communicates the game well. He has great presence and is excellent at coming for crosses. We are thrilled to have Will with us at Duke.”
Kristofer Gardarsson (MF): Gardarsson played his youth soccer for Kari Akranes in Iceland. While very little is known about this foreign recruit, his experience in a professional environment will no doubt benefit Duke’s locker room when he arrives in the fall.
Wilhelm Jacques (D): Listed as the #2 overall recruit by College Soccer News, Wilhelm is one of the most gifted defenders in his class and will make an immediate impact for the Blue Devils. While playing center back for FC Boston Bolts this year, Wilhelm has started all 12 matches he has appeared in. Jacques anchored the Bolts' defense in allowing a division low 13 goals conceded.
Daniel Wright (MF): Daniel Wright touts an impressive record of 17 goals in 17 games this year. A dynamic midfielder with immense attacking ability, Wright will play a key role in adding offensive power to Duke’s midfield.
Aidan Foster (MF): Listed as a 3-star recruit by Top Drawer Soccer, Aidan played for the Capital Area Railhawks (CASL) in the U.S Soccer Development Academy. In his u-18 year Aidan has appeared in 23 matches with 18 starts, while tallying 7 goals. Aidan will make the short journey to Durham in the fall having been born and raised in Cary, NC.
Stephen O’Connell (D): Top Drawer Soccer lists Stephen as a 2-star recruit. Stephen played for Black Rock FC in New York while attending Berkshire School. O’Connell will add depth to Duke’s already impressive backline and is a perfect addition to the nation’s #11 recruiting class.
Michael Reis (GK): Reis is one of two goalies to join Duke men’s soccer next fall. With only one returning goalie next fall, Reiss’ signing provides adequate depth at the position. In 2016/17, Reis started 17 games for FC Golden State in the U.S Soccer Development Academy.
